The Kim Burns Memorial 2025 pickleball tournament brought the community together to honor Kim Burns, a pioneering local player who helped establish the sport on the island before her passing from cancer a few years ago. Organized by Pickleball Association Bermuda, the event featured a moment of silence and a speech from Burns’ daughter, highlighting Kim’s significant contributions both to pickleball and the community through her work with Agape House. The tournament carries extra ranking points to reflect her competitive spirit, making it the second most important event after the national championships.

The tournament attracted over 100 participants ranging from 11 to over 70 years old, showcasing pickleball’s broad appeal and accessibility. Bermuda’s top player, Gavin Manders, won two titles, including the 4.0 mixed doubles with Imani Phillips and men’s doubles with Michael Way. Other winners included Patricia Mills and Melisa Judd in 4.0 women’s doubles, and champions across various skill levels in both men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles categories, emphasizing the sport’s inclusive and competitive nature.
