On June 19, 2025, the Kern River Valley Pickleball Club hosted its inaugural Youth Pickleball Clinic at Riverside Park in Kernville, California, welcoming children aged 8 to 17 to learn the basics of pickleball. The free event featured lessons, equipment, snacks, and volunteer coaching, focusing on fundamental skills like serving, rallying, and court movement. Club member Jeff Mixon emphasized patience and proper technique, helping kids enjoy the sport in a supportive environment.
Building on the clinic’s success, the club announced plans to hold monthly youth clinics throughout the summer to promote physical activity, skill development, and community bonding. These ongoing events aim to cultivate a lasting interest in pickleball among local youth and strengthen the Kernville community around the sport.
