Camp Pickle Making Waves in Denver with New Pickleball Courts
As courts seem to slowly disappear from the Denver region, Camp Pickle is making their mark with the go-ahead in creating more courts for open pickleball play. Despite recent setbacks with the shutdown of Congress Park’s pickleball courts, CEO Robert Thompson is pushing forward with his plans to bring more pickleball opportunities to the community.
Thompson, CEO of Angevin & Co. and Founder of Punch Bowl Social, announced earlier this year the development of Camp Pickle, a venue that will provide entertainment with pickleball courts attached. With noise ordinances being enforced around Denver, some were skeptical about the future of Camp Pickle. However, Thompson reassured the public that most of the courts will be indoors, minimizing any potential noise issues.
In light of the recent court closures, Thompson shared that the construction of Camp Pickle will take time, with the Centennial location projected to open in late summer of 2024 and the larger Fox Park location in Globeville set to launch in 2025. Despite the delay, the promise of indoor-outdoor play for pickleball enthusiasts should bring hope to the community.
Camp Pickle will offer a variety of entertainment options, including pickleball, duckpin bowling, private karaoke rooms, darts, bags, horseshoes, board games, foosball, and more. Renowned chef Manny Barella will showcase his culinary skills at both locations, with identical menus and self-pour draft walls featuring craft beers, wines, and cocktails.
While a third site is being scouted in Denver, Centennial and Globeville will serve as hubs for local pickleball play. With Camp Pickle’s innovative approach to entertainment and sports, the Denver community can look forward to a new and exciting pickleball experience in the near future.
