Anna Leigh Waters Secures 31st Triple Crown Victory on PPA Tour
Anna Leigh Waters continues her dominance on the PPA Tour, securing her 31st Triple Crown title at the Masters event held at the Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California. Despite the challenges posed by the ongoing wildfires in nearby towns, Waters showcased her exceptional skills and emerged victorious once again.
The event marked the beginning of the 2025 PPA season, with new rules implemented to guide competition. Lead Ref Don Stanley announced changes to timeouts, video challenges, coaching, and technical warnings, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead. Additionally, the certification process for paddles was introduced, ensuring only approved equipment is used on tour.
In the Men’s Pro Singles division, Federico Staksrud claimed the gold medal, solidifying his position as a top contender on the tour. The Women’s Pro Singles saw Anna Leigh Waters dominate her opponents, securing her 45th career pro singles title. In the Mixed Pro Doubles category, Waters teamed up with partner Johns to clinch their 44th career title together.
The Men’s Pro Doubles event featured the Johns brothers winning their 34th title as a pair, showcasing their formidable partnership on the court. In the Women’s Pro Doubles, Waters and Parenteau emerged victorious, with Waters securing her 31st career Triple Crown title.
The Senior Open Competition saw impressive performances from Morgan Shephard in Men’s Senior Open Singles, Altaf Merchant & Steve Deakin in Men’s Senior Open Doubles, and Deakin & Julie Johnson in Mixed Senior Open Doubles.
As the PPA Tour continues, the upcoming events include the PPA Australian Open and the Tucson Open, promising more thrilling matches and fierce competition.
