The Indian Pickleball Association (IPA) has conducted its first official national team selection trials for the Pickleball World Cup 2025, held in Ahmedabad on August 30-31 with support from the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and the Sports Authority of India. Over 140 players from various states competed across three categories: Open, Under-16, and 50+. This marks the first time India will send an officially recognized team to the World Cup, scheduled in Florida from October 27 to November 2.
The selected players include Aman Patel and Amrita Mukherjee in the Open singles categories, youth players like Aayra Khanna and Veer Shah in Under-16, and veterans such as Suryaveer Singh Bhullar in the 50+ doubles. IPA officials highlighted the historic significance of this milestone, emphasizing the transparency of the selection process and expressing optimism about India’s potential to make a strong impact internationally while inspiring more athletes to take up pickleball.
