Exciting Action Awaits at the U.S. Open Pickleball Championships!
Excitement Builds for the 2024 U.S. Open Pickleball Championships in Naples
Naples, FL – The vibrant atmosphere of East Naples Community Park is set to come alive as the ninth annual U.S. Open Pickleball Championships kicks off this week, attracting over 3,400 competitors from across the globe. Running from April 26 to May 3, the tournament promises thrilling matches in men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles, showcasing both professional and amateur talent.
With participants representing all 50 states and 40 countries, this year’s event features a record purse of approximately $163,400, drawing more than 400 professional players eager to claim their share. Last year’s championships saw a staggering 40,000 spectators, and this year, organizers anticipate over 50,000 visitors to witness the action.
Among the standout competitors is Anna Leigh Waters, who made headlines in 2024 by sweeping the doubles titles alongside her mother, Leigh, and partner JW Johnson. The competition is fierce, with champions from previous years, including Dylan Frazier and Jack Foster, returning to defend their titles.
Economic Impact and Community Involvement
The U.S. Open is not just a sports event; it significantly boosts the local economy, with an estimated $14 million in economic impact. This includes hotel stays and local spending, benefiting the Collier County community.
Parking at the event is conveniently available for $5 per car, with proceeds supporting the Kiwanis Club’s ‘Christmas in July’ program for underprivileged students. A complimentary shuttle service will ensure easy access to the park, located at 3500 Thomasson Drive, Naples, 34112.
What to Expect at the Championships
Admission to the event is free, although tickets are required for pro matches on the Zing Zang Championship Court. Due to high demand, tickets were sold through a lottery system, but some may still be available at the park.
Fans are encouraged to bring portable chairs for comfort, as bleacher seating is limited. While coolers are allowed, glass bottles and alcohol are prohibited. Food and beverages, including alcoholic options, will be available for purchase, with most vendors accepting both cash and credit cards.
For those unable to attend in person, daily live streaming of the matches will be available on Pickleball Channel, with CBS Sports Network broadcasting live from April 30 to May 3.
As the excitement builds for what is dubbed the “biggest pickleball party in the world,” spectators and players alike are gearing up for a week filled with competition, community spirit, and unforgettable moments. Don’t miss out on the action at the U.S. Open Pickleball Championships!
