Key Trends in Employee Wellness: Insights from Gympass’ “Year in Motion” Report

Gympass, a corporate wellness giant with a $2.4 billion valuation, has recently released its "Year in Motion" report, analyzing over 250 million in-person gym or digital wellness check-ins from more than two million employee subscribers. The data reveals some interesting trends in how employees are prioritizing their health and well-being.

One key finding is that employees across various industries have prioritized their wellness this year, with those in financial services leading in active engagement. The report also highlights popular workout times, with 6 and 7 p.m. being the favorite times for workers to exercise, followed by 5 p.m. Interestingly, those in finance tend to be early birds, with 6 a.m. ranking among the top three workout times.

Another surprising discovery is that January is no longer the top month for health and wellness initiatives. Instead, September saw a 50% increase in check-ins compared to the beginning of the year. Additionally, while Mondays are typically associated with a return to fitness routines, Gympass members favored Tuesdays for check-ins, followed by Wednesdays and Thursdays.

The report also highlights the growing interest in habit-tracking among Gympass members, with a significant increase in the use of apps in the Healthy Habits and emotional health categories. The demand for virtual trainers and well-being coaches has also seen a 44% year-over-year increase, reflecting a trend towards personalized fitness solutions.

Overall, the data underscores the importance of employee wellness in the workplace, with 96% of employees seeking employers who prioritize wellness. Additionally, 93% of global employees believe that well-being is just as important as salary, and a majority would consider leaving a company that does not emphasize employee well-being.

As Gympass continues to focus on individualized health and wellness solutions, the report provides valuable insights into the evolving trends in corporate wellness. For more information, you can read the full Gympass Year in Motion 2023 report here.
