West Vancouver Expands Pickleball Facilities: New Courts and Pump Track Coming to Gleneagles

West Vancouver is set to expand its pickleball facilities with the approval of plans to replace an underused skatepark and bike terrain course near Gleneagles Community Centre. The district council unanimously approved funding for the design and cost estimates for new pickleball courts and a multi-use pump track.

The decision comes after a review of Gleneagles Adventure Park found that the existing bike terrain park and skatepark were not widely used due to issues such as erosion, weed growth, and limited accessibility. Senior manager of parks, Jill Lawlor, highlighted the need to repurpose the area into a more active community space that would cater to a broader range of residents.

The addition of pickleball courts at Normanby Park and Ambleside Park has already proven successful in attracting more players to the sport. By adding courts in Gleneagles, more residents will have the opportunity to walk or bike to play instead of traveling to central locations.

The project, funded with $28,000 in unspent sport court funds, is expected to be completed by spring 2026. Council members praised the pump track’s broad appeal, noting that it would cater to a wide range of age groups and skill levels. Future expansions could include additional pickleball courts in Ambleside Park and the Cypress Village development.

Overall, the expansion of pickleball facilities in West Vancouver is seen as a positive step towards creating more active and inclusive community spaces for residents to enjoy.
