Franklin Parks Commission Proposes Community Action to Combat Vandalism and Improve Facilities

Posted In:

At the July 14, 2025 Parks Commission meeting, members addressed the ongoing problem of vandalism in Franklin’s parks, emphasizing the financial strain it places on the community. They proposed a “see something, say something” campaign to encourage residents to report and document vandalism, aiming to raise awareness about the misuse of tax dollars that could otherwise improve park amenities. The commission highlighted that funds currently spent on repairs, such as fixing damaged bathroom doors, could be better used for park maintenance and enhancements.

The meeting also covered concerns about the condition of pickleball court windscreens and the need for secure equipment storage to ease volunteer efforts. The commission agreed to explore options for a storage bin at the courts. Overall, members stressed the importance of community involvement in protecting park resources and planned to revisit these initiatives in future meetings to develop effective solutions that enhance the park experience for all residents.
