Barrie is about to welcome its first state-of-the-art indoor pickleball facility, Pickleplex, set to open later this year at 521 Bayfield St., Unit 4 in the former Sears location at Georgian Mall. The seven-court venue is designed to cater to players of all skill levels, providing a top-tier pickleball experience for the community.
Pickleplex will offer a range of services including court rentals, social leagues, coaching, open play time, and bookable event rooms for tournaments, corporate events, and private events. With the growing popularity of pickleball, the facility is expected to become a local hotspot for recreational and competitive play.
Co-founder and president Steven Fry, a Barrie native, is excited to bring his passion for pickleball to his hometown. Fry describes Pickleplex as a welcoming, community-focused venue where people can have fun, improve their skills, and connect with others.
In addition to professional-grade courts, Pickleplex will offer fully equipped change rooms with showers and lockers, fresh smoothies for purchase, and a fully licensed facility for socializing. The venue also boasts ample parking on site to easily accommodate large groups.
