Cape Coral Hosts First-Ever PPA Tour: Veolia Cape Coral Open

Cape Coral, Florida is gearing up to host its first-ever PPA Tour event, the highly anticipated Veolia Cape Coral Open, from March 5-9, 2025 at the Lake Kennedy Racquet Center. This event will bring together top professionals, amateur players, and rising stars in the world of pickleball to compete for a 1,000-point Open event prize.

The tournament is expected to showcase elite competition and new partnerships, with fresh doubles pairings and intense rivalries taking center stage. Fans can look forward to thrilling matchups as chemistry becomes crucial for newly formed partnerships in men’s and mixed doubles competitions.

One of the biggest draws of the tournament will be Anna Leigh Waters, the No. 1 female player in the world, who has an impressive record of medaling in 62 consecutive PPA Tour events. Joining her will be Florida stars Parris Todd, Hurricane Tyra Black, Anna Bright, and former Wimbledon finalist Genie Bouchard. On the men’s side, legendary players like Ben Johns, Jack Sock, and Tyson McGuffin will also be competing for top honors.

In addition to the on-court action, the tournament will coincide with the Major League Pickleball (MLP) Premier Draft, where players like Jack Sock and Quang Duong await new team assignments. The draft results are expected to impact players’ strategies as they prepare for the next phase of the season.

The event will be held at the Lake Kennedy Racquet Center, which boasts 30 outdoor hard courts and uses the Vulcan VPRO Flight Outdoor ball. Amateur players will have the unique opportunity to compete alongside the pros, with 12+ live-streamed amateur courts showcasing matches throughout the tournament.

For those looking to improve their skills, a PPA Tour Camp will be available on March 4 and 5, offering professional instruction, courtside tickets, and exclusive discounts on pickleball gear for 3.0/4.0 skill levels.

The tournament will also feature collegiate and junior showcase events, highlighting the next generation of pickleball talent. Teams from Florida State University and the University of Florida will compete in the Collegiate Pickleball Showcase, while young athletes will have the chance to showcase their skills in the Junior PPA event.
