Fairgrounds, a popular operator of six pickleball facilities in Ontario known for their minimalist design and collaborations with high-end fashion retailers, is opening a flagship indoor pickleball center this fall in the former Sears store at Capilano Mall, North Vancouver. The new venue will feature 12 courts available for hourly or monthly bookings, a lounge with food and drinks, coaching clinics, and events such as parties and brand pop-ups. This expansion marks Fairgrounds’ first Vancouver location after a previous plan to open downtown fell through.
The Capilano Mall property owner, QuadReal, praised Fairgrounds for their community-focused approach and has partnered with them on similar projects before. QuadReal plans to eventually redevelop the entire mall site into a mixed-use community with residential towers, retail, a park, and a community center. The new pickleball facility replaces the recently closed North Shore Indoor Bike Park and aims to activate the mall space by providing a vibrant, year-round recreational hub for North Shore residents.
