3rd Shot Pickleball in Reno: A Growing Hub for Pickleball Enthusiasts
3rd Shot Pickleball in south Reno is making a big splash in the world of pickleball with its recent grand opening celebration that drew in over 600 enthusiasts. The facility, which boasts nine courts spread across 28,000 square feet, has been operating at full capacity since its soft opening in November.
Co-owner Will Ratcliff shared that the demand for pickleball courts is high, with plans already in motion to expand the facility to accommodate more players. The sport of pickleball has been experiencing unprecedented growth, with participation increasing by over 223 percent from 2020-24, according to USA Pickleball.
Ratcliff’s journey to opening 3rd Shot Pickleball began over two years ago, fueled by his passion for the sport after discovering it in 2015. With a lack of indoor pickleball courts in Reno, Ratcliff saw an opportunity to create a space where players could enjoy the game year-round.
The facility offers more than just courts, with amenities such as food, drinks, and professional-quality equipment available to players. Miles Construction handled the build-out of the space, which required extensive retrofitting of the former discount store location.
Membership at 3rd Shot Pickleball starts at $68 a month, with drop-in play options available for non-members. The facility also offers league play, instructional sessions, and the ability to host private events and parties.
With plans to expand to more locations across the country, 3rd Shot Pickleball is poised to become a go-to destination for pickleball enthusiasts of all ages. The success of the Reno location is a testament to the growing popularity of the sport and the dedication of its players.
