Emerging Trends in Multi-Use Sports Venues: A Look at New Facilities Opening in 2025

The trend of constructing new sports venues that can host a variety of sports and events is on the rise, with multi-million-dollar facilities being built around the world. From pickleball courts to baseball diamonds, these venues are designed to cater to a wide range of sporting activities and bring communities together.

In Burlington, North Carolina, the City Park complex at Fairchild Park is set to open in the spring of 2025. Featuring 17 pickleball courts, including a championship court, the facility will also host tournaments and bring economic impact to the area. Similarly, in Pecos, Texas, Cyclone Ballparks has added multiuse fields to host baseball, softball, flag football, soccer, and other youth and amateur tournaments.

In Lawrence, Kansas, the University of Kansas is renovating Memorial Stadium and expanding its facilities to create a new Gateway District. The $450 million stadium renovation includes improved seating, concessions, and premium amenities. Meanwhile, in South Jordan, Utah, the new home for the Salt Lake Bees Minor League Baseball team will offer premium spaces and a seating capacity for 6,500 fans.

Other notable venues include the Emerald Acres Sports Connection in Mattoon, Illinois, which features indoor and outdoor sports facilities, and the Kai Tak Sports Park in Hong Kong, which will host events for the 15th National Games of China. In Liverpool, England, Everton Football Club is building a new $1 billion stadium, while in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Fifth Third Park will be the home to the Hub City Spartanburgers Minor League Baseball team.

These new sports complexes are not only designed for sporting events but also for hosting concerts, festivals, community gatherings, and private functions.
