Benak Youth Fusion Festival 2024 Celebrates Unity and Youth Empowerment in Sri Aman

The Benak Youth Fusion Festival (BYFF) 2024 in Sri Aman recently brought together youths, leaders, and the community in a vibrant celebration of sports, talent, creativity, and unity. The event, held alongside the iconic ‘Pesta Benak’ or Tidal Bore Festival, symbolized Sarawak’s unique harmony and the potential of its younger generation to drive progress and innovation.

Officiating the festival was Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Minister Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, who commended organiser Young Malaysians Movement (YMM) Sarawak for its outstanding role as one of the most active youth-focused non-governmental organizations in Sarawak. He highlighted the importance of initiatives like BYFF in empowering Sarawak’s youth, nurturing future leaders, and strengthening harmony within the state.

YMM Sarawak chairman Tan Chun Han was also praised for his dedication, vision, and exemplary leadership in driving impactful youth initiatives. Tan, who is also YMM national vice president, emphasized that BYFF was more than just a celebration but a step towards molding the mindset of youth and equipping them with the values, skills, and confidence needed for future leadership roles.

BYFF organizing chairman Lim Thian Yee highlighted the festival as a continuation of YMM’s commitment to empowering and uniting the youth of Sarawak. The event featured diverse activities such as pickleball, paintball, 4×4 showcases, and martial arts, showcasing the potential of youth as the backbone of national development.

The festival not only celebrated the unique cultural and natural heritage of Sri Aman but also served as a platform to foster creativity, innovation, and community spirit among young people. With over 2,000 participants, BYFF 2024 was a resounding success, inspiring youth and promoting mutual understanding among Sarawak’s diverse communities.
