The Malaysia Pickleball Association (MPA) has appointed Delima Ibrahim as its new acting president, succeeding Farrell Choo, who stepped down to focus on his business. Delima, a founding member of the MPA and president of the Sarawak Pickleball Association, emphasized that her role is temporary until elections next year. Despite some affiliates’ dissatisfaction that the vice-president was bypassed, the executive council supports her appointment. Delima is focused on advancing pickleball’s inclusion in the 2026 Malaysia Games (Sukma), with ongoing discussions involving the Youth and Sports Ministry.
The 2026 Sukma, to be held in Selangor, is considering pickleball as one of five optional sports alongside others like chess and Muay Thai. Selangor’s state officials have expressed intent to introduce pickleball as a medal sport, with the final list of sports to be announced soon. Farrell Choo expressed confidence in Delima’s leadership and the association’s future, highlighting their shared goal to popularize pickleball across Malaysia and secure its place in Sukma.
