Neighbors Oppose Proposed Pickleball Court Complex in Tucker Neighborhood
Residents in the neighborhood near the proposed multi-million-dollar Pickleball court complex at the Tucker Recreation Center on LaVista Road are up in arms, claiming that the project will disrupt their peaceful surroundings.
Neighbor Jordan Swank expressed her concerns about the potential noise pollution, stating, “Bong, Bong. It’s constant like that. And I work from home most of the time. That would be annoying if I’m listening to it from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.”
The planned complex, which would feature 12 to 16 Pickleball courts at an estimated cost of $2.9 million, has sparked opposition from residents like Kellie Kalvelage and Greg Morse, who worry about the impact on their well-being and property values.
Morse suggested an alternative location for the courts, proposing to lease space at the underutilized Northlake Mall property instead. He argued that this would be a more cost-effective solution and benefit the mall owners financially.
Despite the concerns raised by residents, the city of Tucker has not responded to requests for comment on the matter. The community remains divided over the proposed Pickleball complex, with some residents fearing the potential noise and disruption it may bring to their neighborhood.
