Exciting Projects in Dare County Parks and Recreation Department
In an effort to improve and renovate outdated facilities, Dare County’s Parks and Recreation Department has announced a list of upcoming projects that will benefit the community. One of the major projects includes the replacement of the roof at the Youth Center in Kill Devil Hills, scheduled to begin on Monday, Oct. 28, 2024, and continue through Monday, Nov. 18, 2024. This project will temporarily cancel activities such as volleyball and pickleball in the gymnasium.
The after-school program will be relocated to the multipurpose rooms at the Dare County Youth Center until the roof replacement is complete. In addition to this project, the county has several other exciting developments in the works.
The Nags Head Soccer Complex is currently undergoing an expansion to add one additional youth-size soccer field, set to be completed by the spring/summer of 2025. Dare County Parks & Recreation is also working on a total scoreboard replacement project, with eight new scoreboards to be installed on all football fields by May 2025.
Furthermore, the county has allocated funds for the construction of 10 competition-sized outdoor pickleball courts at the former location of Pamlico Jack’s in Nags Head. Site plans are currently under review, with updates to be posted as they become available.
These projects are part of Dare County’s commitment to enhancing recreational opportunities for its residents. Stay tuned for more updates on these exciting developments in the county’s Parks and Recreation Department.
