Crush Yard, a new indoor pickleball and entertainment venue, has opened in Central Florida near Walt Disney World, offering 10 courts within a 48,000-square-foot space that includes food and bar service, arcade games, and event areas. Unlike outdoor courts that typically require players to bring their own equipment and cater to experienced players, Crush Yard provides a welcoming environment for beginners with classes and lessons designed to teach the basics in a judgment-free setting. The facility also offers memberships for experienced players and plans to launch leagues later this year.
Pickleball, invented in 1965, has surged in popularity recently, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, with participation growing over 200% in three years and the average player age dropping to around 35. Crush Yard’s Orlando location is the company’s second, with additional venues planned in Nashville and Huntsville. Beyond pickleball, the venue hosts private events and features a diverse menu and bar, along with games like ping pong and shuffleboard, making it a multifaceted entertainment destination.
