Junior Pickleball Clinic Offered by Cold Lake Pickleball Club and Pickleball Alberta

The Cold Lake Pickleball Club, in partnership with Pickleball Alberta, is excited to announce a special opportunity for young athletes in the community. A pickleball clinic tailored for juniors aged 12 to 18 will be held at the Assumption Gym in Cold Lake, starting in late April and running through early May.

Pickleball has been gaining popularity in recent years, but there is a common misconception among youth that it is a sport only for older generations. Lara Bates, treasurer of the Cold Lake Pickleball Club, dispels this myth by highlighting the success of young players like Anna Leigh Waters, who started playing professionally at just 12 years old.

The upcoming junior clinic aims to not only introduce young athletes to the competitive side of pickleball but also to instill a lifelong love for the sport. Bates envisions finding the next Olympic gold medalist through this program, as pickleball enthusiasts hope to see the sport included in the 2028 Olympics.

The clinic will cater to players of all skill levels, with coaching led by Coach Della Curry from Pickleball Alberta and support from local club members. The sessions will be held over two weekends, offering participants the chance to learn and develop at their own pace.
