Thunder Bay Pickleball Club Secures New Gym Venue at Lakehead University Law School
The Thunder Bay Pickleball Club is facing a pickle of its own as the closure of the Moose Lodge has left its members scrambling for a new place to play. For the past seven years, pickleball players have been enjoying regular games at the Moose Lodge, but with its closure, they are now looking for alternative venues.
President Jake Krawczuk of the Thunder Bay Pickleball Club has been working tirelessly to secure a new location for the club’s members. He explained that the majority of players at the Moose Lodge are also members of the club, and the closure has put a strain on their usual playing schedule.
Fortunately, arrangements are being finalized to use the gym at the former Port Arthur Collegiate Institute, where Lakehead University’s law faculty is now based. Despite rumors of the Moose Lodge potentially reopening in the near future, Krawczuk is determined to provide a stable and reliable venue for the club’s members.
“We cannot have an ongoing situation where their continued ability to play is beholden to an organization that can just shut down the facility on zero days notice,” Krawczuk stated. “We need to provide a workable venue for our members on a timely basis.”
The gym at the former PACI is expected to be a great facility for pickleball players, offering enough hours in the day for members to play as they please. With the club’s proactive approach to securing a new venue, members can look forward to getting back on the court and enjoying their favorite sport once again.
