Evaluation of Pickleball Demand and Facility Availability in Grapevine
Grapevine city staff are keeping a close eye on the growing demand for pickleball in the area while also balancing the availability of existing facilities. With up to 11 spaces available to play pickleball in Grapevine, including four outdoor courts at Dove Park, Parks and Recreation Director Chris Smith is closely monitoring the trend in playership.
The four outdoor pickleball courts at Dove Park were completed in 2020, replacing the existing sand volleyball courts. Smith acknowledges the rapid growth of pickleball in Grapevine and neighboring cities, but emphasizes the importance of evaluating the need for more facilities as the sport continues to gain popularity.
While there are currently no formal plans to add additional pickleball courts in Grapevine, Smith notes that the existing facilities remain popular with individuals. In addition to the available spaces for pickleball play, the city also offers organized classes, leagues, and occasional tournaments for enthusiasts.
Other nearby cities, such as Southlake and Keller, have already taken steps to add more pickleball facilities to meet the demand. As the sport continues to attract new players, Grapevine city staff will continue to assess the need for additional pickleball areas to accommodate the growing interest in the game.
