New Champions Crowned at 2024 USA Pickleball National Championships: Haworth and Oshiro Take Gold
The 2024 USA Pickleball National Championships have been nothing short of thrilling, with new champions emerging in the men’s and women’s pro divisions.
In the men’s division, Chris Haworth showcased his dominance with a straight-set victory over Patrick Kawka in the gold-medal match. Despite Kawka’s valiant effort in the second set, Haworth emerged victorious with a 14-12 win. Haworth, who only started playing in pickleball tournaments in March 2023, has quickly risen to the top of the sport, winning his first PPA Tour gold medal just over a year later.
On the women’s side, Bobbi Oshiro impressed with a gold medal win, defeating top-seed Megan Fudge in the semifinals before securing another straight-set victory over Alexa Schull in the gold-medal match. Fudge and Grayson Goldin, who both suffered defeats in the semifinals, bounced back to claim bronze in their respective divisions.
The excitement at the Arizona Athletic Grounds continues with a full day of mixed doubles competition on Saturday, along with celebrity matches featuring former NFL players Jake Plummer and Eric Decker, former NHL player Shane Doan, and six-time Olympic gold medalist Amy Van Dyken.
