Chennai Super Champs, the city’s World Pickleball League (WPBL) franchise, has made a groundbreaking announcement by introducing the inaugural Chennai Open Pickleball Championship. This event, set to take place in the summer of 2025 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, marks a historic first for the city and the rapidly growing sport of pickleball.
Organized under the guidance of the All India Pickleball Association (AIPA) and the Amateur Pickleball Tamil Nadu Sports Unit (APTNSU), the championship has garnered strong support from the WPBL, showcasing their dedication to promoting the sport in India. The principal partner, Sathyabama University, has also shown their commitment to fostering sports and youth engagement by backing this initiative.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu, co-owner of Chennai Super Champs, expressed her enthusiasm for the upcoming event, stating, “Pickleball is gaining popularity worldwide, and Chennai is eager to be a part of this exciting journey. Our WPBL campaign generated significant interest locally, and I am thrilled to see that translate into broader participation and enjoyment in the Chennai Open Pickleball Championship.
