Major League Pickleball to Implement New Scoring System in 2025
The Major League Pickleball (MLP) is gearing up for a major rule change in 2025, as the league will be switching to the traditional pickleball game to 11 scoring system. This change will see the unique rally system being withdrawn, with players now needing to win points only when serving.
The decision to make this change was made in order to align the MLP with the more commonly known side out scoring system, which is used in the majority of pickleball games. The ‘dreambreaker’ tiebreaker will still utilize the old scoring system, with players needing to win 21 points with a difference of two points to secure victory.
In other news, Pickleball is experiencing a surge in popularity in India, with the Indian Pickleball Association’s (IPA) Pickleball Nationals currently underway at Bennett University in Greater Noida. The tournament features a variety of events for players of all ages and skill levels, showcasing the growing interest in the sport across the nation.
