New Pickleball Club Coming to Armonk: A Hub for the Nation’s Fastest-Growing Sport
The town of Armonk is about to get a whole lot more exciting with the arrival of a new pickleball club at 100 Business Park Drive. This new facility, operated by SPORTIME, will be a pickleball player’s paradise, featuring 11 indoor courts, locker rooms, and event space. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced player, there will be programs and opportunities for everyone to enjoy.
The club is set to open next fall and will offer individual memberships for around $20 a month. Nonmembers can also join in on the fun by renting courts and participating in programs at nonmember rates. Claude Okin, president and CEO of SPORTIME, shared that the company’s goal is to have 200 pickleball courts built by 2030, showing their commitment to the sport’s growth.
Pickleball has been rapidly gaining popularity across the country, with approximately 13.6 million players in the United States in 2023. This growth can be attributed to the sport’s accessibility, affordability, and social aspects. Okin believes that pickleball has the potential to become a collegiate or Olympic sport in the future, solidifying its place in the sports world for years to come.
Local residents like Ross Meyer, a high school student, are eagerly anticipating the opening of the club. Meyer discovered pickleball during a trip to Florida and has been hooked ever since. He’s excited to have a dedicated space to play year-round and make new friends through the sport.
The new pickleball facility is part of a larger project at 100 Business Park Drive, which includes the expansion of an existing warehouse and the addition of a self-storage facility. Anthony Scavo, chief operating officer of Basis Industrial, highlighted the high demand for recreational and self-storage facilities in the area, making this project a valuable addition to the community.
