APP Tour Announces Major Expansion for 2025: Doubling Events, Increasing Visibility, and Focusing on Player Development
The sport of pickleball is on the rise, and the Association of Pickleball Players (APP) Tour is not holding back. In a bold move for the 2025 season, the APP announced plans to double its event schedule, offering more opportunities for players and fans to engage with the sport.
Ken Herrmann, Founder and Head of International & Player Development at the APP, expressed the organization’s excitement for the future. He stated, “The experiences the APP provides for pickleball players set the standard worldwide. We remain committed to delivering the best experience for all players and paving the way for America’s future pickleball stars.”
The 2025 APP Tour schedule will feature 14 nationally televised events, including four Majors, eight USA Pickleball “Golden Ticket” tournaments, the APP Women’s Open, and the U.S. Collegiate Championships. Prize purses will also see an increase, adding to the competitiveness of these tournaments.
In addition to the existing events, the APP Tour will introduce more than 20 new events in 2025, including fan favorites like the AARP Champions Cup and the APP Atlantic Cup. This expansion means that pickleball enthusiasts can look forward to around 50 APP events next year, catering to both amateur and professional players.
The APP’s growth strategy also includes expanding national exposure through increased linear broadcast coverage. In 2025, the APP plans to offer over 55 hours of television coverage, providing fans with access to pickleball’s biggest moments and giving pro players the platform they deserve.
Player development is a key focus for the APP Tour, with initiatives like the APP Next Gen events and the newly launched APP Academy aimed at nurturing the next generation of pickleball talent. Internationally, the APP is also expanding its reach, with plans to break new ground in global pickleball development.
Overall, the APP Tour’s major expansion for 2025 promises an exciting year ahead for pickleball enthusiasts and players alike. With more events, increased media coverage, and a focus on player development, the APP is solidifying its position as a leader in the world of professional pickleball.
