The Association of Pickleball Players (APP) is actively advancing youth development through its APP Next and APP Academy programs, focusing on nurturing young talent for professional pickleball. In June, the APP Next Series tournament in St. Louis provided players aged 16 to 23 with a professional-style competitive experience, awarding $15,000 in prizes. Standout winners included Emilia Schmidt from Australia and Jayden Broderick of the U.S. National Team. Concurrently, the APP High Performance Summer Academy at the Fort offers intensive training and engaging activities like beachside tug-of-war, fostering both skill development and community.

These initiatives are designed to equip young athletes with the skills and experience needed for high-level competition while emphasizing learning and camaraderie. The APP Academy’s fall session begins August 18, continuing the organization’s commitment to preparing the next generation of pickleball professionals. APP founder Ken Herrmann praised the dedication and achievements of the youth players, highlighting the programs’ role in shaping the future of the sport.
