Protestors Rally Against Bonnerworth Pickleball Complex at City Hall
Over 100 protestors gathered at city hall on Monday to voice their opposition to the city’s planned pickleball complex at Bonnerworth Park. The protestors, who were against the $4.4 million redevelopment plan that would add 16 pickleball courts and a parking lot, made their voices heard during the city council meeting. This was the second meeting in a row to be disrupted by opponents of the proposed complex.
The protestors, who were not able to be seen by the councillors as the blinds were drawn in council chambers, were passionate in their opposition to the plan. They believe that the addition of pickleball courts and the removal of a baseball diamond and green space would negatively impact the community.
Despite the opposition, city councillors did not have pickleball on their agenda that evening, but the protestors made sure their voices were heard. The gathering was a display of community activism and the power of citizens coming together to voice their concerns.
The protest highlighted the ongoing debate and controversy surrounding the Bonnerworth Park redevelopment plan. As the city moves forward with its plans, it is clear that there are strong feelings on both sides of the issue. The protestors are determined to continue their fight against the pickleball complex, and their voices will not be silenced.
