PPA Tour Highlights: Anna Leigh Waters Achieves Milestones in Las Vegas
Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) #1 Anna Leigh Waters had a remarkable week, achieving two significant milestones in her career. Waters captured her 40th career singles title and her 30th professional triple crown, solidifying her status as one of the top players in the sport.
The action took place at the 2024 Las Vegas Pickleball Cup, held at the Fontainebleu casino on the northern edge of the strip. The event was a “cup” level event, offering 50% more points than a regular tour stop, attracting top players from the PPA Tour.
In the Men’s Pro Singles division, #1 Federico Staksrud continued his dominance, claiming his seventh singles title of the season. Staksrud faced tough competition but ultimately emerged victorious, showcasing his skills and solidifying his lead in the rankings.
On the Women’s Pro Singles side, Waters faced strong opponents but managed to secure her 8th singles title of the season. She defeated Kate Fahey in the final, showcasing her talent and experience on the court.
In the Mixed Pro Doubles category, Waters teamed up with partner Ben Johns to claim their 37th career Mixed title together. The duo displayed excellent teamwork and skill, dominating their opponents to secure the win.
In the Men’s Pro Doubles division, Andrei Daescu and Gabriel Tardio emerged victorious, winning their second straight pro doubles title. The competition was fierce, with several upsets shaking up the usual dynamics of the division.
Lastly, in the Women’s Pro Doubles category, Waters and partner Catherine Parenteau continued their dominance, securing another gold medal. With this win, Waters achieved her 30th professional Triple Crown, further solidifying her legacy in the sport.
