Amherstburg Opens Eight New Pickleball Courts to Boost Local Recreation and Tourism

Posted In:

The Town of Amherstburg officially opened eight new pickleball courts at the Libro Credit Union Centre on June 21, 2025, marking a significant expansion for the rapidly growing sport in the community. Local officials, including Mayor Michael Prue, and the Amherstburg Pickleball Association celebrated the addition, which provides residents with convenient access to courts that previously required travel to other cities. The project, costing $480,000 and partially funded by a $24,000 donation from the association, aims to support public play, organized events, and future tournaments.

Looking ahead, the Amherstburg Pickleball Association plans to enhance the facility further with permanent seating, lighting, and sunshades, funded through ongoing fundraising efforts. This expansion not only meets the increasing local demand but also positions Amherstburg to attract visitors and boost the local economy, reflecting the town’s commitment to growing recreational opportunities and community engagement.
