The village of Algonquin has unveiled a comprehensive master plan to redevelop Willoughby Farms Park, a 12-acre community space established in 1996. Partnering with JSD Professional Services, Inc., the plan aims to modernize the park’s aging amenities and create an inclusive recreational environment that reflects community input gathered through open houses, surveys, and school sessions. Key features include new pickleball courts, a nature-themed play area with a zip-line, a multi-generational plaza with water features, upgraded sports courts, expanded parking, improved pedestrian paths, and enhanced natural habitats.

With an estimated cost of $4.8 million, the project will be implemented in phases as the village seeks grant funding to support the redevelopment. Village President Debby Sosine emphasized that the plan embodies a shared community vision, balancing improved play spaces, sports facilities, and ecological enhancements to ensure the park remains a vibrant hub for residents of all ages.
